In the beginning…
Genesis means "the beginning." In the book of Genesis, we see God as loving Creator, Prophet, and Master Strategist. Adam and Eve's story is a beautiful display of God's love. God created man. God loved man daily. God gave man mandates and purpose. Then, man defied God and chose his own way. God shed blood to cover man, and enacted a new plan. It is genius!
Genesis 1 starts out, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth..." With His voice, He released words of creation and excellence. And, He shared His creation with mankind.
In Genesis 1:27 He created man and woman in His image, His likeness. In verse 28 God blessed them and said, "be fruitful, multiply, subdue the earth." God gave permission to be productive and prosperous while marrying and reproducing with the opposite gender. God gave the mandate to take dominion and manage the environment well. The earth is yours, so thrive and reign well!
That is Kingdom living!! On earth, as it is in Heaven. Jesus preached Kingdom. So should we.
Throughout history, God chose very imperfect people, like me, to dispense His words, His miracles, and His story. His representatives were flawed humans who did a lot of bad things. But God still claimed them as "His beloved." He chose the unqualified, but willing, and did wonderful things.
Our God loves us so much that He lets us join in this historical journey. He doesn't have to trust us, that we will get it right. He trusts Himself, that He will right what we don't get right. He always has a plan, that guy! Our life stories are a lot like a roller coaster with highs and lows, twists and turns. But, with our God, what a thrill ride it is!!
I coached both of my son's youth basketball teams. It was very satisfying coaching a group of boys who didn't know each other, and turning them into a great team. Many started with few skills, but lots of enthusiasm.
Watching our first game it was easy to see their flaws. But, after a season of practices and games they looked like a completely different team! Every player improved their skills, which was noticed by every parent. My coaching reputation grew. We became a fiercely feared team that others feared playing against.
After the season's conclusion, coaches and parents inquired what I attributed my success to with different players every season. I told them I focused more on fundamentals than others and I value every player's ability.
What I didn't tell anyone was that I expected to play in the championship every year. Why? Because I assessed each player and I knew that I could strategically coax and inspire them to achieve their greatest potential. I prophetically envisioned what they would become.
I declared our success, worked hard, and expected it to happen. It was how I coached, how I parented, and a value in our ministry. God sees us as we appear in our Heavenly seated places. Any thoughts about ourselves or others that don't align with God's thoughts are flawed, which we want to change.
We invite you to join us on our imperfect journey, our Genesis. Laugh with us, cry with us, and grow with us as we highlight our Creator Who loves us, flawlessly.
Welcome to the Genesis of Reign Ministries...So, it begins.
